FTSBK9 SS26 "MIDWEST"

A study of adaptation, reuse, and everyday engineering. Built from 55 pre-owned caps, the collection explores how minor structural interventions can extend the function of familiar objects without obscuring their original identity.

Each cap is altered with notches in the brim that allow sunglasses to be worn seamlessly, while side slots enable eyewear to be inserted and secured when resting on top of the head. These precise modifications transform the cap into both accessory and tool.

The collection draws on some of the most familiar cap graphics in circulation. The NY Yankees cap serves as a foundational reference—arguably the most worn cap in the world. It is joined by other baseball staples from the Boston Red Sox and LA Dodgers, hockey references from the Pittsburgh Penguins and University of North Carolina CH, and the instantly recognizable NYPD insignia.

Agricultural and outdoor references are introduced through three John Deere caps: a hunting camouflage version with neon orange details, a woodland camouflage edition, and a brown version finished with metal hardware. Military motifs appear through USMC, and UN emblems.

Together, these symbols move across sport, agriculture, law enforcement, and military culture, forming a composition of widely recognized graphics embedded in everyday use.

SS26 MIDWEST was photographed by Emanuel Koroly in the rural Swedish landscape surrounding Arboga. Defined by agricultural fields and military infrastructure, the area includes an airstrip and mountain bunkers once used in the production of fighter aircraft for the Swedish Air Force. The site is now operated by SAAB for radar testing and defense research.
